Eight random facts…

It appears that I am obliged, by the rather 18th century code of honour that governs the blogosphere, to list eight random facts about myself, having been ‘tagged’ by Paul F. I am not sure what will happen if I do not but I suspect a duel might be involved…

1. I am currently reading (aloud, of course) a book about William Wilberforce, Eric Metaxas’ Amazing Grace. It is American, and slightly clunky at times, but overall I would highly recommend it as a readable introduction to a figure about whom, I must confess, I knew virtually nothing before I saw the film…

2. I occasionally impersonate a vicar, or more accurately the wartime Rector of Long Melford, Charles Sidney Hardy. I was doing it today, in fact. Those who know what is in Long Melford should be able to work out where I conduct this impersonation.

3. I have read none of the Harry Potter books and my sister despises me for it…

4. I did not learn to read until I was eight…

5. I used to collect (and still do, in a very desultory way) stamps of the Ethiopian Empire 1895-1974.

6. I have kept a handwritten journal since I was 14 which now runs to 33 volumes.

7. I am (probably, according to my research) descended from Henry Somerville Boynton, 11th Bart. of Burton Agnes in the County of Yorkshire.

8. My favourite film is Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon.

I trust this fulfils my debt of honour – and since I gather I must now tag someone, I shall inflict this misery on Cutetwirler; provided she reads this!
